Editing Blog: Adding Transitions

Today was a day we planned to edit. This next step in our editing process. We added our transitions. Some of these transitions are blackouts, jump cuts, and fade-ins. These transitions all add suspense to the film. An example of this is the blackout adds suspense and shows the end to a scene. We only used this blackout transition during scenes that took place at night. We used this transition at the end of the night scenes to show the end of the night and the start to a new day. This is very useful for grabbing the attention of the audience. We think these techniques will help us accomplish this. These transitions can create a variety of effects on the viewer. We also used jump-cuts. Most of our scenes were jump-cuts. We had many reasons for this. Such as it was a very smooth transition. It made two scenes seamlessly go together. When you want scenes to fluently go together jump-cuts are perfect. And also they are less confusing for the audience. We also used cross-blur. This transition morphs one scene into another. This was a way to make it clear that two scenes were different.
